A former parliamentary Aspirant for the 2016 Weija-Gbawe constituency seat of the opposition National Democratic Congress Obuobia Darko-Opoku is peeved about some certain issues currently going on in the constituency.
This has made her to issue a public notice on her Facebook page to dissociate herself from the occurrences in the Weija Gbawe Constituency. Read the full statement below.
My attention has been drawn to the unfortunate activities of some fellow constituents in Weija Gbawe, reportedly calling for me to contest the seat for our party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This is shameful, unacceptable and disrespectful of our party regulations, our PC for Weija Gbawe and myself.
I totally dissociate myself from the unacceptable occurrences in the Weija Gbawe Constituency.
I did not take part in the primaries for 2020 because I did not want to contest again. I have since 2016, continued my dedicated commitment to supporting the constituency and the PC, including the just ended registration period.
I have also been involved, with the support of a senior female member of the party, to resolve some issues between the PC, the Constituency Executives, Coordinators and branch executives and we had been largely successful. I am surprised at the turn of events in the constituency.
I want to kindly urge the Greater Accra Regional Secretariat of the NDC to urgently and steadfastly step up its work to help bring harmony to the Constituency.
Obuobia Darko-Opoku.
Weija- Accra.
