The people of Akyem Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region have got a relieve, as transport fares have been reduced. The decision comes into effect from Monday 24th August, 2020.
It may be recalled that president Nana Akufo – Addo while addressing the nation into phase two of easing down restrictions on last month said ” public transport operators can resume operations at full capacity and after stakeholders meeting drivers have been directed to reduce transport fares by 10% effective August 1
Although, Abuakwa North drivers were unwilling to obey the directives, which has currently caused misunderstanding between passengers and some drivers .
The good news is that, the Akyem Abuakwa North municipal chief executive Hon Twum Ampofo popularly called Pataku has yesterday Thursday 20th August,2020. Called on the transport unions based in the municipality that is the G.P.R.T.U, K.B Transport and Co -Operative union, to reduce transport fares.
As per the revised fare structure, according to the Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPRTU) chairman Abuakwa North Branch Hon chairman Yaw Atua,

Kukurantumi to New Tafo GHC 2 now GHC 1.80p
New Tafo to Maase
GHC 4.60p now GHC 4.20p
Addo Nkwanta to New Tafo GHC 4.60p now GHC 4.20p
Anyinasin to Tafo GHC 4.60p now GHC 4.20p
Asafo to Tafo GHC 5.80p now GHC 5.20p
Obodase to Tafo GHC 3.00 now GHC 2.80p
